9th August 2018 (Thursday)
Honour the Elders: Irish and International Experienced Permaculture Teachers and Practitioner Panels & Workshops

  9:00 AM                Morning Circle Check-In:  Arrivals, Welcomes, Introduction and Networking Games, Joining Contribution Crews for Community Cohesion

  9:30 AM                 Panel of Elders.    Theme: Where have we come from; reading the landscape.  This Panel hosted by EUPC2018 Coordinator Suzie Cahn will start with Richard Webb giving a literal orientation to the past of the unique glacial formed surroundings of the Wicklow Mountains National park with features visible from the EUPC2018 site. Maddy Harland of Permaculture Magazine will give her views on the landscape of Permaculture as visible through the pages of the magazine her own experiences in the UK and elsewhere in the world. Other on this panel exploring the journey will be Heiko Vermeulen of Portaferry Permaculture Project, and Davie Philip of Cloughjordan Permaculture and others from  across Europe. All speakers will bring us up to the present day and share their wisdom and experience and their views on what they see emerging in the present day landscape of Permaculture.

Partners in Permaculture Day

  9:30 AM                Educators, artists, activists and representatives from related organisations, local & international networks, Transition Towns, Ecovillages and sustainable living initiatives have been invited to join the EuPC to explore with European Permaculturists how we expand the edge of Permaculture and mainstream regenerative design.

This dynamic session will blend full room conversations, small group conversations, panel discussions and online participation.

How might Permaculturists cooperate with other movements?
How could other networks benefit from adopting a Permaculture approach?
How do we maximise beneficial relationships with other organisations? 

Davie Philip, (Cultivate, Cloughjordan Ecovillage, ECOLISE) and Andy Goldring (Permaculture Association of Britain, Permaculture CoLab, ECOLISE) will host this session which will feature Iva Pocock (Cloughjordan Ecovillage, ECOLISE). Theresa O’Donohoe (Future Proof Clare, Transition Towns) Emily Archer (Artist) Joanne Butler (Community Gardens Network, GROW Observatory),  Fox Keohane (Community Living Network, European Democratic Education Community), John-Paul Patton (Global Ecovillage Network Ambassador Ireland, Enriched Earth & Climate Ambassador), Róisín Nic Cóil (Community Supported Agriculture), Bobby McCormack (Development Perspectives), Suzie Cahn (Carraig Dúlra, Project Coordinator for Recycling Ambassador Programme), Mark Boyle (Freeconomy Community) and many others.

  3:00 PM                  The Talanoa Dialogue for Climate Ambition Session: This community conversation will be reported on and fed into the year long Talanoa process (A Pacific Island tradition very aligned to permaculture facilation practices) launched at COP23 that included the opportunity to contribute National, regional and thematic dialogues.   8:00 PM                   Entertainment:  Co-create a relaxed or fun evening amongst friends old and new- Head down to the local village to experience an Irish pub night or stay on site by a fireside or in a yurt, hostel meeting room – Options will be coordinated on the community notice board in the hostel lobby.
